Research Interests

Jackie’s work examines the ways “Americanness” is rendered in the relationship between music/sound, affect, and national identity, particularly when mobilized as a corrective to division. In this way, she is interested in the affective and embodied practices of nation- and place-making in the American imagination, and how these formulations recursively bound back to Black and Brown bodies to secure White futurity.
