Virtual Performance- It Can’t Happen Here
October 18, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In 1936, when fascism was new, novelist Sinclair Lewis adapted his (ponderous 458-page) novel into a playscript for the fledgling Federal Theatre Project (1935-39). Barely a year after it began, Federal Theatre opened It Can’t Happen Here nationwide on October 27, 1936: 21 cities in 17 states.
Sunday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m., with Joseph Megel directing, there will be a live stream Zoom production of Sinclair Lewis’s It Can’t Happen Here from the Cats Cradle music venue in Chapel Hill, NC, to raise money for NC GOTV.
