Film Fest 919 in Chapel Hill

Film Fest 919, a new international film festival, is having its first full presentation in Chapel Hill, October 3-7. Films will play at the Silverspot. The opening film is Alfonso Cuarón’s ROMA; cast and crew will be in attendance. Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Palme d’Or-winning SHOPLIFTERS is also in the lineup, along with other standouts on the international festival circuit.

The organizers have put together 43 exciting films, many of which premiered at Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, and Toronto. Academy Award-winning directors, writers, actors, and producers are also lined up to attend (there is a chance that Nicole Kidman will be in attendance, among others). If this festival is well-attended, it has the potential to become an annual cultural event in the Triangle!
