Join the Department of Communication for a panel discussion and interdisciplinary conversation on the intersections between food, power, and organizing building on IAH Fellow Dr. Sarah Dempsey’s edited book, Organizing Eating: Communicating for Equity in US Food Systems (Routledge, 2023). This event will be held on April 10, 2024 at 3 p.m. in GSU-2518AB, located in Carolina Union. CLE credit is available.

About Dr. Sarah Dempsey

Dr. Dempsey teaches courses on organization, work and globalization, food politics, and contemporary social theory. She has written on topics including the politics of social change; voice, representation and accountability in the nonprofit sector; community and grassroots organizing; engaged scholarship; cultural ideologies of meaningful work; and transnational feminisms. Her research appears in journals such as Communication and Critical/Cultural StudiesCommunication Monographs, Feminist Media StudiesManagement Communication QuarterlyOrganizationand Children’s Geographies. She is currently at work on a project on the politics of labor and reform in the U.S. food system.
