Saint – Hayden Humanitas Award
The purpose of this award is to honor students whose work in media:
-
- Demonstrates excellence in the craft —the art and science— of screenwriting & media production.
- Informs the audience through the telling of a humanizing story and in doing so addresses such age-old human concerns as truth, liberty, moral purpose and integrity, interpersonal relations, a sense of community, and a respect for differences. Like its namesake, the entertainment industry’s prestigious Humanitas Prize in Film and Television Writing, the Saint-Hayden Award will be given annually to showcase UNC student projects and scripts that ‘. . . not only entertain, but also affirm, inspire, inform, enlighten and challenge the viewing audience.’”
- Exhibits high production value, a developed aesthetic, excellence in the field of production, and the ability to tell a story.
The award is a monetary one. The submissions will be judged by the Director of the Writing for the Stage and Screen Program and appointed faculty in Media Production.
The deadline for nominations is March 22, 2024 at 4:00 PM.
The Department of Communication Award Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 2:00-4:30 PM in the Pleasants Family Room of Wilson Library.
