Edible Campus/Carolina Community Garden Intern
Internship Duration
June 1 – Mid August
Internship Description
The Edible Campus / Carolina Community Garden intern(s) will work to help maintain both the Edible Campus gardens (¼ acre plot behind Davis Library + 9 satellite gardens across campus) and the Carolina Community Garden space (212 Wilson St.). This internship will be a great educational opportunity in all aspects of summer vegetable production as well as an introduction to some summer fruits, herbs, and pollinator friendly perennials and annuals. The internship will be very hands-on and mostly outdoors, though there will likely be some computer and social media work to be done as well. This means applicants should be ready and able to work in the North Carolina summer weather. The intern(s) will work closely with the coordinators at Edible Campus and Carolina Community Garden as well as other staff and volunteers. There will also be independent work such as watering the EC gardens and mowing at the CCG.

● All aspects of summer production gardening such as harvesting, watering, weeding, trellising, and propagation
● Working with and leading volunteers at both EC and CCG workdays
● Helping to water the many EC gardens located throughout campus (this will require a willingness to do some walking) and some watering at CCG.

● Help maintain some social media presence throughout the summer. This will include taking pictures and posting on Instagram

● Willingness and ability to work in the NC summer heat
● Ability to perform various levels of physical tasks
