Ashley Mattheis is interested in rhetorical criticism, feminist theory, and the material effects of cultural production and consumption. She is working toward a graduate minor in Women’s and Gender Studies and a Digital Humanities certificate. Her areas of inquiry include discourses of motherhood, victim blaming, and men’s rights activism. These discourses contribute to popular, juridical, and cultural expectations of gender by normalizing notions of heteronormativity, unmarked whiteness, and gendered violence within the contemporary United States.
