Research Interests
My research interests comprise a Venn diagram intersecting media representation & reception, religious & political identity, labor, post-humanism, and sound studies. In other words, I am interested in how self-consciousness of realities such as automation and economic precarity can be expressed and negotiated through media and media discourse. I am also interested in how identities, particularly conservative ones, form heterogeneously and heterodoxically in relationship with other identities and epistemes. My research broadly tries to ask the question, How much room do individuals have to move and maneuver, to define themselves and their environments, within given material conditions?
