Internship Descritpion

Sports Promotions Group (SPG) is seeking new team members for our onsite event retail sales team. Summer Event Sales Interns will assist with our event sales and grassroots marketing efforts through the implementation of retail stores at national soccer events with major accounts throughout the U.S. during the internship window. In addition to managing event sales efforts, interns will enter the market to interact with the soccer customer base in efforts to increase consumer spending, support current partners and gain new customers. The position is compensated hourly at a $7.75/hour rate with overtime eligibility.


Upon the completion of this program, participants will:
Understand the SPG event sales program and the activities that take place behind the scenes to operate a successful retail business.
Monitor expenses and understand the management of event budgets.
Develop cooperative leadership skills and confidence in decision making.
Consistently demonstrate the ability to tactfully handle challenging situations while maintaining focus in regards to the goal at hand.
Collect, track, and analyze data related to retail events.Create and test new marketing strategies to increase partner satisfaction and increase consumer conversion.
Develop and maintain strong consumer and partner relationships to increase brand loyalty.
Fulfill and execute specific sports marketing strategies tailored to the event and sponsoring brand.
Understand the event set-up and promotional process for Sports Promotions Group.


Must be sales oriented with strong customer service skills.
Must have an outgoing and friendly personality.
Must have a basic understanding of accounting to assist with inventory management.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to handle event organization and set up in a team based setting.
Ability to stay on task, work independently, and remain productive in periods without direct supervision.
Position involves weekend and holiday work with frequent travel expectations for extended periods of time.
Program will last from May 15th to August 9th.
Preference will be given to students pursuing a four-year degree in a related field (Business, Marketing, Economics, Communications, Sport Management, Retail and Consumer Science).
Knowledge of the youth club soccer market a plus.
