Susannah Ryan’s research conceives communication as an affective and embodied mode for negotiating relations in deeply contingent—at times chaotic—social/political states. Along this vein, her published work has taken up the possibilities of reconciliation in Central and Southern Africa through critical examinations of reparation and development. Constellating social theory, transitional politics, and performance, she is currently investigating the conditions of solidarity in order to articulate the dramatic turns into and out of moments of crises.
