MA, Communication, UNC Chapel Hill
Marie is a PhD candidate in performance studies and health communication. Marie’s dissertation, “Performing Sacrifice Zones: Oral History, Cancer Cultures, and Public Activism” engages the creative, embodied tactics by which people facing advanced cancers reframe correlates of health, environmental, and racial justice. The project is based in oral history, performance research, and participatory, critical ethnography in cancer clinics, coal ash-affected communities like Walnut Cove, NC, and public installations with the Forward Together Moral Movement.
