Jessica’s research examines how work and labor are evolving in light of global environmental change. Situated in critical organizational communication and labor process theories, she is interested in how environmental conflicts generate dialogue between labor and environmental groups and the implications of conflict discourses for worker identities and collectivity. Her dissertation investigates the case of shale gas development in the United States and how contestations over resource extraction mediate relations between the discursive/material and labor/environment.
