Research Interests

Kevin’s research interests include media and technology studies, musicology, and sound studies. He is interested in music materialism and how the evolution of formats, both analogue and digital, produce trends across the culture and work forms of music. More specifically, Kevin’s work examines the relationship between digital technology (such as streaming platforms) and music genre, analyzing how digital changes in format have disrupted longstanding power structures in the music industry and created greater contestation over understandings of genre.
