About Alfred L. Martin Jr., PhD
Alfred L. Martin Jr. is Chair and Associate Professor of media studies in the Department of Cinematic Arts at the University of Miami. He is author of The Generic Closet: Black Gayness and the Black-Cast Sitcom and Fandom for Us, by Us: The Pleasures and Practices of Black Audiences (forthcoming, New York University Press), editor of Rolling: Blackness and Mediated Comedy, and co-editor of The Golden Girls Reader: Essays from the Lanai (forthcoming, Rutgers University Press). He has published widely in a host of scholarly and public-facing venues and serves on the editorial boards of Communication, Culture, and Critique, Film Criticism, Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies and Transformative Works and Cultures.
