Abbey Speaker Series: Social Media and Democracy – Helping or Hurting? w/ Yascha Mounk

Next Wednesday, Oct. 6th, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., the Abbey Speaker Series returns with an online panel discussion, Social Media and Democracy – Helping or Hurting?, which brings together thought leaders from academia and the tech sector to discuss whether social media can promote – or at least co-exist with – democracy. The event includes:

Moderator:

  • Yascha Mounk, contributing editor at The Atlantic and associate professor of the practice of international affairs at Johns Hopkins University 

 

Panelists:

  • Rumman Chowdhurydirector of the machine learning ethics, transparency, and accountability (META) team at Twitter 
  • Siva Vaidhyanathandirector of the Deliberative Media Lab at the University of Virginia
