Research Interests
Dan (he) studies the construction and contestation of identity and power through mass media and popular culture. His research employs frameworks from cultural studies, critical race theory, feminist media studies, and queer Black feminist thought to examine film, television, music, art, and digital media. His current research focuses on how mediated representations of politics, leadership, activism, and cultural change shape and are shaped by popular consciousness and grassroots movements for social transformation.
