Biography
Madalena is a first-year Ph.D. student studying youth activism and political engagement, examining how socialization practices and structural forces in the United States shape and constrain the political participation of young people, particularly girls. Through an organizational communication and cultural studies framework, she explores the existing conditions of adolescence today, as well as historical and contemporary practices of youth political mobilization. Her work critically engages with questions of political exigency and agency, aiming to understand how young people come to exercise political influence.
