Information adapted from UNC News.

For six communication students, October 31 was a day not only for Halloween festivities, but for academic success as well.

These seniors were among 304 UNC students inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa society, the oldest and most well-recognized academic society in the United States. Members have included 17 U.S. Presidents, 42 U.S. Supreme Court Justices and 150+ Nobel Laureates, among other distinguished company.

Less than 1% of college students across the country even meet the qualifications for acceptance. To qualify, students must reside academically in the College of Arts and Sciences, having completed either 75 credit hours with an overall 3.85 GPA or better or 105 credit hours with an overall 3.75 GPA or better. Only the grades and classes taken at the student’s current university are considered.
