Our State Magazine

Internships positions are for about 15 hours a week, paid, and offer opportunity for experience in several areas: research, proofing, writing, and editing. Interns also help with fact-checking, assembling copy for our website, and other general duties. Our State interns work closely with the editorial team and have the opportunity to produce portfolio-worthy clips. We prefer students who are pursuing a degree in journalism or English. While our interns can complete much of their work remotely, preference will be given to candidates who are able to attend in-person meetings on Monday and Wednesday afternoons in our office at least twice a month. Experience working on a student or local publication is a huge plus.

Students interested in applying for an internship should send a cover letter, resume including one reference, at least two writing samples, and a story pitch to the Editorial Department at editorial@ourstate.com. Please list “INTERNSHIP” in the subject line of any email communication.
