About AAHIVM
The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) is an independent organization of frontline HIV specialists and health care providers across the U.S. who are dedicated to promoting and ensuring excellence in HIV care, treatment and prevention. Our network of members and credentialed providers, which consists of over 3,500 frontline physicians, nurse-practitioners, physician assistants and pharmacists, serve nearly three-quarters of all people with HIV in the U.S. We provide our members with informational resources, on-going professional, medical education, and advocacy for public policies that maximize our country’s HIV response.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
The American Academy of HIV Medicine seeks an administrative intern to assist communications and marketing efforts. The Academy Communications Internship is a professional skills internship to assist the Communications Department in research, analysis and implementation of organizational communications and marketing tools and strategies. The intern will work both independently and in a team setting to contribute to the goals and initiatives related to the Communications Department. While assisting with a wide range of projects, the communications intern will benefit from experience and training in many aspects of marketing and development, while also gaining a good understanding of a small nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities
• Assist in planning, writing and managing e-blasts, e-newsletters, website and social media content
• Design event/program fliers, graphics and other marketing material
• Contribute to the Academy’s social media presence, including content management and performance analysis
• Provide input for creative marketing strategies and social media campaigns
• Create social media graphics and online advertisements as needed
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions and tools for communications and marketing
Qualifications
• Enrolled in marketing/communications, advertising, public relations, public health, health care administration or related field of study
• Minimum 3.0 GPA, strong written and verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner
• Ability to work well independently, and within a team, from a virtual setting
• Adept with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
• Interest in graphic design with proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud desired; knowledge of website content management (WordPress) a plus
• Priority given to candidates with an interest in and/or a working knowledge of the HIV epidemic
