About ScreenArts
History
Since its start in 2003, ScreenArts has brought touring film festivals to North Carolina, such as the Lost Film Festival, the Cocoon Zine and Documentary tour, the Rural Route Film Festival, the JUNK Tour of Queer Underground Cinema, and the Gadabout Traveling Film Festival. Individual filmmakers and media artists highlighted have included members of the Southern Documentary Fund, Alice Elliott – an Academy Award nominated documentarian. ScreenArts has also showcased programs by students and faculty of the Department of Communication Studies, most recently the award-winning Sphere of Influence, a documentary made by Communication Studies graduate student Stace Treat.
