Interpersonal & Organizational Communication

Scholars of interpersonal and organizational communication increasingly seek to understand how communications within and between people creates, sustains, and alters personal, social, and professional relationships. A series of interrelated courses in interpersonal communication explores how communication reflects and influences the development of personal identity and gender, family and social relationships, and how individuals pursue and obtain personal and group goals. Work in organizational communication focuses on the various ways individuals influence and are influenced by organizations and their members, including study of organizational culture and symbolism, leadership communication, the influence of organizational members' communication on their ability to participate in organizational life, and criti cal analysis of organizational communication.
