Interpersonal & Organizational Communication
Scholars of interpersonal and organizational communication increasingly seek to
understand how communications within and between people creates, sustains, and alters
personal, social, and professional relationships. A series of interrelated courses in
interpersonal communication explores how communication reflects and influences the
development of personal identity and gender, family and social relationships, and how
individuals pursue and obtain personal and group goals. Work in organizational
communication focuses on the various ways individuals influence and
are influenced by organizations and their members, including study of organizational
culture and symbolism, leadership communication, the influence of organizational members'
communication on their ability to participate in organizational life, and criti
cal analysis of organizational communication.
